Chapter 720 Watch Your Step
She didn’t want to ask further questions. All she did was clutch Damien’s hand tightly. “That’s more than enough for me.”
A grand procession of trucks filled with roses journeyed across the city. Finally, it halted at the entrance of New World Restaurant.
Lennon, the owner of New World Restaurant, had long been awaiting their arrival with a team of managers and chefs.
Cherise felt inexplicably gratified when she saw the suave and impeccably dressed Lennon standing there and welcoming her as if he were a doorman, especially considering how Lennon had previously treated Lucy. She felt indescribably pleased as she saw him dutifully waiting for her under Damien’s instructions.
The car door swung open, and Cherise emerged from the car with the grace of a queen with Damien’s a*sistance. As soon as she stepped out, she nonchalantly glanced at Lennon in the distance. “You took the time to personally welcome me, Mr. Belcourt?”
“Isn’t it obvious why I’m here to personally greet you, Cherise?” Lennon offered her a strained smile. “Aren’t you aware of Damien’s character? I fear he might demolish my restaurant if I weren’t here to greet you!”
Cherise smirked. She recalled what Lucy had told her and smiled faintly as she gazed intently at Lennon. “You’re a wealthy bachelor now, Mr. Belcourt. I heard you started smoking and drinking a few years ago as you worked late. Your health has taken a hit while the company’s performance has improved.” Cherise blinked and asked indifferently. “Is that true?”
Lennon’s face instantly paled. He frowned at Cherise, then turned to look at Damien. “The room, chefs, and food you requested are ready. I have other matters, so I’ll take my leave now.” With that, the man glanced deeply at Cherise and turned to leave.
As Cherise watched his retreating figure, a sneer formed on her lips. Take care, Mr. Belcourt. Since you have frail health, watch your step!”
The man snorted disdainfully and quickened his pace.
Damien stood in his spot and shook his head in resignation. He could understand why Lucy was previously so distant towards him as he observed his wife’s demeanor.
Friendship between women was simple. They would only be rude and sarcastic to people who were nasty to their friends, like how Cherise was treating Lennon as she spoke to him sarcastically.
“Let’s go.” While Damien observed Lennon’s retreating figure, Cherise had already approached him.
The woman glanced at New World Restaurant’s signboard as nostalgia washed over her. “This is my second visit to New World Restaurant since my return, right?” Cherise could still remember the chaos Ursula had caused on her first visit to New World Restaurant.
She wondered how the Mortis sisters would react to the news on the Internet today. Given Rowena’s temperament, Cherise probably wouldn’t have a peaceful meal.

Damien’s hand froze as he held the phone. “Didn’t I instruct you to watch her closely?”
“I’m sorry, Mr. Lenoir.” The person in charge at the hospital sighed apologetically. “We intended to fully protect Ms. Rowena, but we were overwhelmed by Ms. Ursula…”
