He asked, âAre you satisfied with your life now?â
âI canât
say whether Iâm satisfied or not. Actually, aside from these unnecessary social events and meetings, I quite enjoy my current job. Itâs comfortable and fulfilling.â
The man looked at her and smiled. âYour personality might be better suited for behind-the- scenes academic research rather than making public appearances and delivering speeches.â
âPerhaps.â
The emotions that had accumulated for a long time were finally released. Cherise let out a long sigh of relief, feeling much better.
Moments later, she placed the pillow on the couch and said, âItâs getting late. You should back and rest.â
âAnd what about you?â
She waved the notebook in her hand. âIâll continue working on this.â
âIâll stay with you,â Damien answered gently.

Cherise bit the end of her pen and pondered momentarily before writing in the notebook. âI went to Europe to receive treatment for my right hand.
Damienâs eyebrows furrowed tightly.
