Chapter 600 The Most Beloved Student
Isaac let out a sigh as he leaned against the door, his slender frame trembling. âWhen Dr. Lane visited, she spoke highly of Dr. Shaw.â
Damien furrowed his brow at those words.
The conversation between Martha and Isaac played over and over in his mind.
âYou were not to blame back then, yet you willingly took all the blame upon yourself⊠Cherise doesnât deserve your kindness. Whether it was two years ago or now, she never admitted that she personally instructed you about that plan.â
A cold smile appeared on the manâs lips.
He had noticed it earlier.
Martha may have seemed comforting Isaac, but in reality, she was implying that Cherise was solely responsible for Isaacâs current situation.
She kept repeating the phrase âisnât worth it.
Cherise was not worthy.
The hidden message behind her words was not so hidden after all.
Yet, Isaac seemed oblivious to this as he continued to sing Cheriseâs praises.
Damien raised an eyebrow, turned to Cherise, and asked, âIs Ms. Lane usually friendly towards you?â
Cherise shook her head.
âBut even if Ms. Lane dislikes Dr. Shaw, she wouldnât conspire against her.â
Isaac immediately refuted as soon as Damien finished speaking. âMs. Lane talks tough, but she has traditional views. Itâs normal for her to have disagreements with Dr. ShawâŠâ
Cherise nodded in agreement.
âAnd Isaac was Ms. Laneâs favorite student during his school years. Even if she dislikes me and wants me to leave the hospital, she wouldnât stoop to such measures. Because even if this was my plan, it was Isaac who executed it. He wonât be able to escape the consequences. Even if Ms. Lane holds a grudge against me, she wouldnât involve her favorite student.â
After Isaac resigned, Martha was devastated for a long time.
She started skipping numerous conferences and turned down promotion opportunities, claiming she was not ready.
She cared deeply for Isaac and would never involve him in such an issue.
Upon hearing this, Isaac quickly nodded in agreement.
âThese past two years, my mother has been seriously ill, and Ms. Lane occasionally sends me money. She genuinely cares for me, so she wouldnâtâŠâ
Seeing that both of them were certain that Martha had no involvement, Damien did not press the issue further.
His well-sculpted hand tapped on the table. âSend me the recording.â
Isaac glanced at Cherise.
After receiving Cheriseâs approval, he sent the audio to Damienâs email. âWhat do you plan to do?â
âSince we canât determine the motive behind this incident, weâll start with this recording. The person who can imitate Cheriseâs voice with such accuracy in such a short time wonât be an ordinary person. They must be a professional voice actor at the very least.â
Isaac slapped his forehead. âRight.â
He gave Damien a thumbs up. âThatâs clever of you.â
Damien offered a faint smile. His tall and upright figure rose from the sofa. âThen Cherise and I will take our leave. Call me if anything comes up.â
He turned around, walked over to Cheriseâs side, and extended his hand to her. âWeâve stayed here for too long. Itâs time to go.â
Cherise looked bewildered, stunned by the situation.
