Chapter 423 Maeveâs Vengeful Return
Old Mr. Lenoir let out a deep sigh and then commanded Greg, âGather everyone back.â
Greg turned around and headed back to the living room. âPlease come inside, everyone.â
Twenty minutes later, the members of the Lenoir family arrived.
Tristanâs jaw dropped as he stared in shock at the woman before him; her face was so contorted it barely resembled a human. âWhat⊠What is this?â
âA monster!â
âShe scared the life out of me!â
âIs that so?â
Maeve chuckled softly, wheeling her wheelchair and deliberately spinning it a couple of times in front of Tristan. âI remember when we were kids, you used to enjoy playing with me, cousin.â
Tristan was so shocked that he nearly fell to the ground.
âYou⊠youâre Maeve?â he stammered.
âYes,â
The woman replied indifferently, stopping beside the sofa and glancing at Cheriseâs pale face.
âArenât you supposed to be dead?â
Tristanâs eyes widened in disbelief. âYou⊠youâre alive?â he gasped.
âWhat? My beloved cousin isnât happy that Iâm alive?â
Maeve said with a faint smile. âWell, I can understand.â
âYou donât seem too happy that Iâm still alive,â Maeve said icily.
âEveryone seems to think that all of the Lenoir wealth belongs exclusively to the Lenoir members,â she continued.
âNeither I, my brother, nor my parents can compete with you for it.â
Wanda stood next to her and rolled her eyes contemptuously. âMaeve, considering the state of your throat, perhaps itâs wise to keep your words to a minimumâ
âYour face might be terrifying, but at least your voice still works.â
âKeep babbling, and Iâm afraid youâll lose the ability to speak in the future,â Wanda continued

derisively.
Maeve scoffed, âAunt Wanda worries too much.â
âEven if you die, I wonât lose my speaking ability
Old Mr. Lenoirâs frown deepened upon hearing the biting, cold sarcasm.
âThatâs enough!â Old Mr. Lenoir bellowed.
Old Mr. Lenoirâs cane struck the ground with a resounding thud. âWe havenât seen each other for so many years!â
âYet every time we meet, it turns into an argument! Every single time!â
âWell, Grandpa, you should know I never wanted to see her in the first place.â
Maeve sniggered coldly.
Wanda rolled her eyes. âI second that!â
As the two women argued vehemently, Damien sat gently beside Cherise, delicately applying a medicinal solution to the swollen red marks on her face.
âThatâs enough.â
Old Mr. Lenoir sighed and handed the chip that Lennon had given him via Greg. âPlay this,â he ordered.
Greg nodded.
Soon, the enormous curved television screen in front of them lit up, displaying the earlier scene in the courtyard where Tristan had ruthlessly slapped Cherise three times.
He even came close to stripping her dress off
His words alone could provide a solution to the problems the Shaw Group was currently facing.
Raymondâs face turned sickly pale as the recorded footage played, and slow fury consumed him.
He gritted his teeth and glared hotly at Tristan. âGet on your knees!â
Tristan rolled his eyes, snarled, and begrudgingly knelt down..
To him, it was just a few slaps and touches on Cherise.
Was all this fuss necessary?
âClap, clap, clap,â the room echoed with the slow and chilling applause.

It was Macve.
âCousin, your straightforwardness never fails to amuse,â she sneered.
Her icy gaze then settled on Raymond, who stood before her. âUncle Raymond, do you have anything else to say?â
Raymondâs face blanched, and his voice faltered as he felt bile rising. âI⊠About this matterâŠâ he stammered.
Throughout the day, Raymond had been discussing the incident with Damien and Maeve.
Despite his efforts, the outcomes were far from satisfactory.
Now, Tristan had revealed everything.
He lowered his head and said solemnly, âRaetec Group accepts responsibility for our actions in
this matter,â
âWe are committed to compensating for your losses andâŠâ
âWe seek more than just Raetec Group, a voice interjected.
