Chapter 158 Whereâs Ian?
Violet clenched her fists in silent frustration.
Cherise returned to school to find Lucy lounging in the infirmary, engrossed in a phone game. She furrowed her brow and reached out to block Lucyâs phone screen. âWhereâs
Ian?â
Lucy shot her a disdainful look, adjusted her phone, and continued playing. âHeâs gone.â
âJust like that?â Cherise bit her lip, realizing she hadnât thanked Ian properly for helping with her injury.
Lucy leaned back. âWell, itâs better he split than stick around and make a fool of himself. I mean, heâd never compete with me to be your kidâs godparent.â
Cherise was puzzled. âWhat do you mean by âmaking a fool of himself and âbeing my childâs godparentâ?â
Caught off guard, Lucy cleared her throat and mumbled, âI didnât say anything. Your mustâve misheard.â
Cheriseâs intuition told her something was up between Lucy and Ian.
She snatched Lucyâs phone, demanding, âTell me what happened!â
Lucy was annoyed at the interruption. âWhatâs there to explain? I got rid of that lan guy. He knew you were married but kept pestering you with his schemes.â
âJust now, Sunnyâs dad lifting that chair was just a scare tactic. He rushed in and got hurt, hoping youâd feel sorry for him.â
âA conniving guy like him being gone is a win for you and Damien!â Lucy explained.
She took advantage of Cheriseâs stunned state and snatched her phone back. Unfortunately, when Cherise took her phone, her in-game character had been defeated, and her opponent had wiped out her virtual crystals.
Seeing the big âFailedâ word on the screen, Lucy was upset and shot Cherise a resentful glance. âYou owe me a game!â
âHey, I helped you, and you delayed my game?!â
Cherise pressed her lips together.
âLucy, you canât talk badly about lan like that.â

Cherise took a deep breath, suppressing her anger, and looked earnestly at Lucy. âIan isnât the
person youâre saying.â
âHe used to be someone I admired, our high school pride.â
âMaybe he came to see me just to thank me or wanted to chat.â
âI reckon he didnât have the full picture earlier. When he saw someone being unkind to me, he stepped in to help out of sheer kindness.â
Her
gaze was sincere, âWeâre all from the same background; helping each other is the least. we can do.â
âEven if he had ulterior motives, he did get hurt trying to protect me. I havenât had a chance to thank him, and you drove him away. No matter what, thatâs not right of you.â
Cherise might not be the quickest thinker, but she understood the basics of human. relationships and principles. Her aunt had always taught her to repay kindness.
After all, Ian intended to help her.
Lucy pursed her lips. âBut heâs got motive!â
âCherry, can you please not think so highly of everyone?â
âI can see right through lanâs intentions.â
Cherise took a deep breath, smiled at Lucy, and said, âMaybe youâve misunderstood him.â
âYou carry on with your game; Iâll find Ian.â
With that, she picked up her backpack and dashed away.
Lucy furrowed her brows, annoyed and worried with Cheriseâs naĂŻve and overly trusting. nature. âWhy do you want to see him?â
